When people discuss the idea of a casino what exactly are they talking about? Most people tend to think of it as a place to wager; a place to place to enter bets to win money. Most people consider this to be a place where there is any number of games to choose from.
A good example is that the state of Florida in the United States boasts 150 casinos. The truth is that there are very few places where people can actually play games like poker, craps, and slot machines. It makes one wonder if race tracks are considered casinos then what about NASCAR, football stadiums, or even the local convenience stores that sell lottery tickets?
Most folks do not consider a horse racing or dog racing track to be an actual casino. They consider them tracks. Yes, you can place bets on the horses or the dogs but do these facilities actually mean what they are considered to be.
Not all places that offer betting opportunities are in reality casinos as the masses know them as. However, Merriam Webster’s Dictionary defines a casino as being a building or a room used for gambling. With that definition then all places used for betting could be considered a casino no matter where it is, even if it is temporary.
In the end, the mere word, casino, can be somewhat misleading. When most people want to place bets they will go to one of these businesses either on land, ship, or the Internet to bet on their favorite games. It is up to each individual to decide whether or not their betting facility is, in their mind, a casino or not.
Unfortunately, things get a little tricky when it comes to this word that is really all-encompassing. Legislation is held up by the mere word because of people thinking that since an area has horse racing, others should be satisfied with just that.
If someone says that they do not want a casino in their community then they should really take a good look around to see how much betting is going on daily, even down at their local store. When they do, they will see that there is already some form of a casino right there, if that place sells lottery tickets.

Well… I think there is some sort of confusion on the part of those who do not like casinos.
